NORA News Alert: EPA Proposed Solid Waste Rule to be in Federal Register on Friday June 4th

EPA's Proposed Solid Waste Rule Will Be Published in the Federal Register on June 4th - Comment Period Extended

NORA has learned that the proposed rule for the "Identification of Non-Hazardous Materials That Are Solid Waste" is scheduled to be published in the Federal Register on Friday, June 4th. 

NORA has also learned that EPA plans to extend the comment period on this proposed rulemaking from 45 to 60 days. That means that NORA will have until August 3rd to develop a position and file comments.

Once the official version has been published, NORA will provide the appropriate links to members. NORA will seek comments from members on this important issue to the used oil industry. A committee has been formed by NORA to review comments from members and provide strategy options to the Board of Directors.
 
George Faison from EPA will be at the NORA Mid-Year Meeting on June 21st to discuss this issue and answer questions from members. NORA will use the meeting to further understand the proposed rule and develop the industry's position.
