Press Release from NORA Member Intergulf Corporation

Intergulf Corporation is proud to announce an expansion consisting of a used oil re-refinery at its La Porte, Texas facility.

This investment reflects Intergulf’s continued confidence and commitment to be a leader in the recycling industry. The initial construction phase will add an additional 420,000 gallons of storage and allow for processing of 8 million gallons of used oil per year to produce vacuum gas oil (VGO) and asphalt flux. The re-refinery is engineered to be easily expanded to allow for future growth.

Feedstocks can be accepted by truck, railcar or barge. The existing La Porte facility consists of 11 acres located in La Porte’s Battleground Industrial District, zoned heavy industrial, with Highway 225 frontage that has quick access to Houston and surrounding areas. The site is mostly raw land with 2,000 linear foot of rail, 1,500 barrels (63,000 gallons) per day hydrocarbon refinery, vapor combustion unit, 13,500 barrels of heated storage tanks, natural gas fired boiler, three fully contained railcar loading/unloading/steaming areas, four fully contained truck loading/unloading areas, hydrogen pipeline and laboratory.

Conveniently less than two miles away, Intergulf also operates a bulk storage terminal located in La Porte’s Battleground Industrial District that will augment the re-refinery operations. This site currently serves as a fleeting location for Intergulf’s owned and operated 1,800 horsepower tug boat, and three 10,000 barrel barges. This site stores petrochemical products and recyclables collected from vessels, terminals, petrochemical plants and refineries along the Texas gulf coast. The terminal consists of 31,200 barrels of bulk storage for Intergulf’s activities and 54,000 barrels of storage for third party tank tenants. The terminal can receive and discharge materials by truck or barge featuring automated truck loading/unloading. The site is currently under construction to expand its bulk storage capacity to 200,000 barrels in the near future.
