Press Release from NORA Member Chemical Engineering Partners
Chemical Engineering Partners
(CEP) is proud to announce the successful start-up of LWART’s re-refinery in
Brazil. The capacity of the plant is 150,000 MT/year of used oil. It is the
largest re-refinery in South America. It is also the first of its kind in South
America; it is the only plant in South America including virgin crude oil
refineries to produce API Group II base oils. CEP is excited to bring the
state-of-the-art re-refining technology to Brazil. Brazil is a leader in
environmental initiatives. It is the only country where used oil must be
re-refined by law.
The LWART Group, headquartered
in Lençóis Paulista, Brazil, has contracted CEP to design the plant. LWART is
regarded as the largest company in South America in the field of collecting and
re-refining of used oil.
CEP is regarded as the global
leader in the re-refining technology. CEP’s re-refining process (CEP Process)
is environmentally friendly that its process not only "renews” the used oil,
but also reduces the overall CO2 emission when compared to burning the used
oil. CEP is responsible for licensing the re-refining technology third parties.
The CEP Process produces API Group II base oils. These base oils have been
tested and certified by API. CEP has designed re-refineries around the world
that use the CEP Process.
