Mr. Moncrieff is a Director of the Energy Practice in Kline & Company’s Management Consulting Division.
He has more than 35 years of experience in all segments of the energy value chain, from oil and gas production, through refining and marketing, to power and petrochemicals. His work has encompassed bitumen production and upgrader economic assessments; crude oil and refined products marketing and valuation; refinery feasibility and valuation studies; gas and LNG marketing, project evaluation and SBU strategy creation; M&A and business valuation support; private power/IPP strategy; and chemical feedstock valuation. The focus of most of his engagements is on the strategic, commercial, and market, dimensions of growth. He has worked for super-major and independent oil companies, NOCs, chemical and utility companies, and lenders around the world.
Ian has had extensive consulting experience, most recently with Kline, where he develops new concepts in assessing industry fundamentals in the petroleum specialties business segment. Prior to joining Kline he was President of Moncrieff Consulting after a lengthy career at Arthur D. Little Inc., where he was a Director of the Energy Practice, a corporate Vice President, and a member of the company’s Main Board. Before becoming an energy consultant he worked for six years at British Petroleum, where he was engaged in upstream and downstream commercial analysis, and in corporate asset investment planning.
He holds a B.Sc with honors in Chemistry from the University of Wales.
