How to Avoid a Nuclear Verdict

New Topic Announced for the NORA EH&S Forum

Data-rich attorneys armed with CSA scores, truck logs and social media posts are convincing more and more juries to deliver huge verdicts. The insurance industry is now referring to these as “nuclear verdicts” that are now larger than $20,000,0000 and up to $1,000,000,000.

Melanie Cheairs with Lorance Thompson, PC will be presenting “How to Avoid a Nuclear Verdict" at the 7th Annual NORA EH&S Forum that will be held February 25, 2020 in Dallas, Texas at the Adolphus Hotel.

Even though 70 percent of fatal crashes involving a large truck were the fault of passenger motorists, these verdicts are continuing to become more common. It is more important than ever for companies operating fleets to do everything possible to reduce their Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) scores. This session will educate NORA members on how to proactively avoid nuclear verdicts.

In addition, the NORA EH&S Forum will feature sessions on:

  • Safety and Security for Fleets and Facilities
  •  Safe Work Behavior Engagement
  • Workers’ Comp Claims: Best Practices for Members
  •  Research Proven Technologies to Reduce Commercial Vehicle Crashes
  • NORA EH&S Roundtable: Reducing Risks with Affordable Technology

The EH&S Forum is being held immediately before the NORA Winter Meeting. Members may register for this stand alone event for only $159/person or combine it with the NORA Winter Meeting Registration for $369.
